Angel Afghans

Angel Afghans are baby blankets that are delivered to local hospitals to give to parents who've suffered the loss of their infant through miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death. Angel Afghans are wrapped around infant angels when they are held by their families for the brief time in which they have to say hellos and good byes. The parents are then allowed to keep the afghan as a token of remembrance of their baby. Just having something soft to hold is often comforting. Many grieving parents are touched by the fact that people they have never met have cared enough to make something so beautiful and special for them and their child.

Suggestions for making "Angel Afghans"

-- Please make all blankets in baby colors. Some of the ones that work best are pastel blue, mint green, white, or variegated baby colors.

-- The average size of an "Angel Afghan" is about 2 foot square but blankets are needed in every size from the tiny, preemie sized 12 X 12 inch all the way up to full size baby blankets.

-- Any extra special touches are welcome. This is what will make each "Angel Afghan" unique and special.
